Situated at 1700 M Street NW, just steps from Farragut Square and within walking distance of Dupont Circle, Uchi Washington, D.C. is deeply informed by the character of its surroundings. The Golden Triangle is a lively, walkable neighborhood where cultural institutions, restaurants, residences, and workplaces overlap, creating a steady, day-to-night rhythm.

Rather than stand apart, the restaurant is designed to feel embedded within this fabric. Its architecture and interiors respond to the scale, pace, and refinement of the neighborhood, offering a welcoming retreat that feels residential in spirit while remaining quietly transportive. Housed within the ground floor of a newly constructed, sustainability-focused office building, Uchi brings warmth and intimacy to the streetscape, contributing to the neighborhood’s evolving dining culture.

References to classic film and dreamlike interiors lend the restaurant a sense of romance and mystery, creating an environment that feels both transportive and deeply personal.

Throughout the space, subtle moments of concealment and surprise invite exploration. Private dining rooms, softly obscured pathways, and tucked-away corners emerge gradually, fostering a sense of closeness and discovery that mirrors the progression of the meal itself. The result is a restaurant that feels found rather than announced, intimate and immersive, as though it has always belonged there.

True to the Uchi philosophy, the design supports an experience defined by warmth, generosity, and human connection. The intimacy of the dining rooms, combined with a service style that
