Uchiko is a poetic interpretation of Miami Beach’s spirit, blending tropical brutalism with the elegance of Japanese deco influences to create a space that feels like an escape, yet remains deeply rooted in its marina-side setting. The design of Uchiko embraces hand-crafted elements and a palette of highly textured materials and celebrates the beauty of imperfection.

The material palette tells a story of the marina and its textures. Exposed concrete, softened by hand-pressed stone and shell accents, echoes the coast’s rocks where sea life finds refuge, while rich teak wood shutters add warmth and a sense of grounded elegance and tropicalism. At the entrance, the host stand is inspired by Japanese thatched roofs—setting the tone with an inviting and handcrafted feel.

At the heart of the space is the signature glass block bar, a glowing jewel that captures the light of the setting sun and casts rippling reflections onto the ceiling, evoking the magic of water at golden hour. This luminous centerpiece anchors the dining room, creating an enchanting ambiance that shifts with the light as the sun sets.

The color palette is a love letter to the marina’s depths, with gradients of deep blues blending seamlessly into the space. Bursts of vibrancy appear in playful artwork depicting oceanic ingredients used in the cuisine, while sea green marble mosaics are found accented in the concrete floors throughout for a modern touch. These details, paired with lush tropical plantings, bring an organic softness to the design, imbuing the space with life and vitality.

The private dining room is a sanctuary within a sanctuary, an intimate retreat framed by Japanese-inspired sliding drapery and featuring a dramatic carved stone fireplace. With its moody lighting, rich textures, and enveloping warmth, the room feels like a hidden world filled with artful discoveries.

Additional Japanese influences are woven throughout, from the handcrafted copper light fixtures and intricate deco-inspired drink rails to the tiled bathrooms, where rich aubergine-colored tiles immerse you in a moment of unexpected indulgence.
