The two prominent racetracks in the greater Miami area were Hialeah Park and Gulfstream Park, and they had their heydays in the 1960’s and 1970s. The tracks were big entertainment highlights for both locals and tourists, mixing the excitement of a day at the races with a tropical setting and energy. This time period inspired our logo and we created a set of illustrations for the identity along with carefully sourced historic Miami imagery. These are used throughout the identity, giving a ‘throw back’ or vintage feel.
Palms, umbrellas, alligators, horses, sun bathing ladies and more… all play a part in our illustrations, the juxtaposition between Lexington and this tropical, vacation oasis adds to the humorous tone of the bar.
Finally, our typography and bar menu referenced vintage horse race betting papers. Adding hand touches and markups as you would when placing a bet on a horse.
